Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4400 Buck
April 7, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4400 Buck about 1 p.m. on March 26.
The male suspect, 16, was referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a murder charge. He is accused in the killing of Michael Eugene Wartell, 62, of Houston, who died at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer S. Straughter and Officer S. Sylvester reported:
An altercation between two individuals escalated when shots were fired in the direction of Mr. Wartell, who was attempting to find a safe place from the gunfire. Paramedics arrived and pronounced Wartell deceased from a gunshot wound.
Further investigation identified a juvenile male as the suspect in this case. He was arrested last Thursday (April 3) without incident.
