Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 8500 Richmond
June 9, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 8500 Richmond about 10 p.m. on Saturday (June 7).
The suspect, Morgan E. Steffan (w,f, 20) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 177 State District Court. A photo of Steffan is attached to this news release.
The female victim, 24, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant ?? Roberts and Officer T. Branford reported:
Suspect Morgan was driving a tan Ford Taurus eastbound on Richmond when she ran a red light and struck a white Toyota Matrix traveling northbound on Dunvale. The Taurus then continued into the westbound lanes of Richmond and struck silver Mazda S26, driven by the victim. A passenger in the Mazda was also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Further investigation determined Morgan was intoxicated and she was subsequently arrested and charged.
