Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 3000 East Loop
June 9, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in a fatal traffic accident at 3000 East Loop (East Interstate Highway 610) about 7:25 a.m. on Saturday (June 7).
Suspect Angel Manuel Salinas, 40, is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #11. A photo of Salinas is attached to this news release.
The male victim, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Tran reported:
Suspect Salinas was driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on the East Loop when he lost control of the vehicle. He then stalled in an adjoining lane, facing oncoming traffic and was struck by a maroon Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck. The Chevrolet was then struck by a white Chevrolet Malibu. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation determined Salinas was intoxicated at the time of the incident. He was subsequently arrested and charged.
The investigation is continuing.
