January 30, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 600 Maxey Road about 2 a.m. today (Jan. 30).  

The male victim, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer K. Heaverlo reported:  

The victim was driving a green Nissan Altima southbound on Maxey Road.  A white Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound on Maxey, failed to yield the right of way as he turned westbound at the intersection of Wood Bayou, and struck the Nissan.  The driver of the Nissan died at the scene.  The driver of the Ford, who exhibited signs of intoxication, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  

The investigation is continuing.
