January 28, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 7900 Bellfort about 11:30 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 27).

The victim, 24, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Jewell and Senior Police Officer R. Bolton reported:

The victim was observed having a conversation with a male in a silver sedan just prior to the shooting.  As the victim walked away from the vehicle, the driver, described only as a black male, got out and while at close range shot the victim from behind.  The victim then collapsed in the street.  The suspect then fled the scene.
