February 27, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 8000 block of the East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 26).
The male victim, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer P. Pham reported:
The driver of a blue Chevrolet Cavalier was driving eastbound on the East Freeway when the vehicle, for an unknown reason, veered off and struck the wall. The vehicle continued eastbound and came to a stop at the end of the McCarty exit ramp. Further investigation determined the victim appeared to have exited his vehicle and attempted to cross the main lanes of the freeway and was struck by one or more vehicles. None of the vehicles that struck the victim remained at the scene.
There are no known witnesses to the accident.
