Suspect Charged, Wanted in Woman's Death at 1000 Prairie
February 11, 2014 - Houston police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect charged and wanted in the fatal beating of a woman at 1000 Prairie about 2 p.m. on September 18, 2001.
The suspect, Joseph Edward Webster (b/m, DOB: 10-8-63), is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court. A photo of Webster is attached to this news release.
The victim, Josephine Herbert, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.A. Holbrook and Senior Police Officer M. Kral reported:
Ms. Herbert was found beaten and sexually assaulted at the above address. Recently, new evidence became available that led to the identification of Webster as a suspect in this case. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
