February 11, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6300 Long Drive about 3:15 a.m. today.
The male victim, 26, died at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer T. Van reported:
A red Ford Expedition was traveling westbound on Long Drive when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a light pole on the driver's side. The Expedition then flipped over and landed upside down. The victim was killed. A second person inside the Expedition was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition.
A preliminary investigation determined neither person inside the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt. At this time, it is unknown who of the two victims was driving the Expedition.
The investigation is continuing.
