February 3, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 9800 South Kirkwood about 7:50 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 2).

The suspect, Fernando Razo (H/m, DOB: 4-13-85), is charged with accident involving death and intoxication manslaughter in the 208th State District Court. A photo of suspect Razo is attached to this news release.

The female victim, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant B. Rogers and Officer M. Mathews reported:

Razo was driving a white Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on South Kirkwood. The victim was driving a black Honda Accord westbound on Spring Grove. As the Honda was leaving a stop sign to turn left at the intersection of Kirkwood, the suspect's truck struck the Honda on the driver's side, killing the victim. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot, but was taken into custody by police a short distance from the scene. He was found to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged.
