August 27, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 23700 Eastex Freeway (North U. S. Highway 59) service road about 10:55 a.m. last Wednesday (August 20).
The male victim, 65, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him dead on Tuesday (August 26). His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Acevedo and Officer O. Lewis reported:
The victim was driving a black Honda Element northbound on the Eastex Freeway. When he exited the freeway, the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck the concrete base of a light pole. The victim was then transported by Life Flight helicopter to the hospital.
The investigation is continuing.
