HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Senior Police Officer M. Burrow reported:
Shortly after midnight, Mr. Richardson was inside his home and told his wife he was going to meet someone outside. Richardson's wife then went to sleep in the bedroom and realized her husband was not in the bed when she woke at 4:30 a.m. She searched the house for Richardson and then went outside where she found him wounded on the driveway. Houston Fire Department paramedics were called and pronounced Richardson deceased.
Further investigation developed information that identified Miller as the suspect in this case. Miller is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the same court for his involvement in a similar shooting incident at an apartment complex at 7313 Gulf Freeway on August 2. He was arrested by officers from the HPD Eastside Patrol Division's Tactical Unit for his involvement in that incident on August 15. He was subsequently charged for his involvement in the July 5 incident and remains in custody.
