August 4, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3000 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday (August 3).
The identity of the male victim, 31, is pending notification to family by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Senior Police Officer I. Jefferson reported:
A white Toyota Sequoia and silver Ford Taurus were both traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway, in separate lanes. The driver of the Taurus, in an effort to avoid an accident ahead on the freeway, made an unsafe lane change and was struck by the Toyota. The Taurus then struck a red Honda, from the previous accident, and spun into the retaining wall. The driver of the Taurus was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other persons were seriously injured. The investigation is continuing.
