Suspect in 2011 Fatal Shooting at 7945 West Airport
October 25, 2013 - Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 7945 West Airport about 7:25 p.m. on September 11, 2011.
The suspect is described only as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, green shorts and a white hat. A composite sketch of the suspect, originally released on September 15, 2011, is attached to this news release.
The victim, Marcus Keith Mehundrew, 26, of Houston, suffered at least one gunshot wound to his torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. A photo of the victim is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler reported:
Mr. Mehundrew was sitting in a garage at the above address with two other people when the suspect approached on foot and asked for drugs. When Mehundrew replied he did not have any, the suspect produced a pistol and fired several times.Mehundrew ran down the driveway before collapsing. The suspect then fled on foot into the Fondren Southwest Subdivision. He was last seen running at the intersection of Secretariat and Sea Biscuit.
