May 20, 2013 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which a Drug Enforcement Adminstration (DEA) agent discharged a weapon and wounded a suspect at 111 North Post Oak Lane about 12:10 p.m. on Saturday (May 18).

The suspect was struck in the chest and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition.

The DEA agent was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants A. Semmelrock and J. Burton reported:

Members of the DEA were conducting a narcotics operation at the above address.  When the agents attempted to arrest the suspects, who were inside two vehicles, the driver of one of the vehicles attempted to flee.  The suspect driver struck a parked vehicle and then reversed his course.  An agent, who was dressed in police raid gear and yelling at the suspect to stop, discharged his weapon at the vehicle when the suspect drove at him.  The suspect was struck and crashed his vehicle into additional parked vehicles. Paramedics transported the suspect to the hospital.  DEA agents arrested the remaining suspects without further incident. 

As is customary when a law enforcement officer discharges a weapon causing injury in the city limits, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
