March 27, 2012 - Houston poice are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7500 block of Old Galveston Road (State Highway 3) about 1:20 a.m. today (March 27).
The female victim, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Insititute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Senior Police Officer J. Gaona reported:
The driver of a tan GMC Envoy was traveling southbound on Old Galveston Road and ran a red light at the intersection of Edgebrook. The driver of a white Honda Civic, traveling eastbound on Edgebrook, was making a left turn onto Old Galveston Road at the same time the driver of a black Isuzu Trooper, traveling westbound on Edgebrook, was making a left turn onto Old Galveston Road. Both the Honda and Isuzu making opposite left turns had green arrowns. The Envoy then struck the Honda and pushed it into the Isuzu. The passenger in the Honda was killed. The driver of the Isuzu was not injured but his passenger was transported to Bayshore Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Honda was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Envoy was found behind some bushes near the intersection and taken into custody by responding HPD patrol officers.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
