March 11, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 9200 block of Tidwell about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday (March 10). 

The victim, Daniel Hope, 20, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer L. Galvan reported: 

The victim was driving a maroon Toyota Corolla at a high rate of speed westbound on Tidwell and failed to stay in his lane.  The Corolla struck a curb and then veered into the eastbound lanes of Tidwell.  The victim then tried to return to his lane but was unable to do so and was struck by a silver GMC Envoy traveling eastbound on Tidwell.  The victim, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed on impact.  The driver of the Envoy was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital with minor injuries.
