June 26, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 17000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 6:05 a.m. today.

The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Officer O. Lewis reported:

The female was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway, in a construction zone, when she was fatally struck by a silver Ford Taurus. The driver was questioned and released without charges.

The investigation is continuing.
