Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 14100 South Main
June 24, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14100 South Main about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday (June 23).
The suspect, Ruben Prado (H/m, DOB: 7-10-81), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 182nd State District Court.
A photo of Prado, with injuries sustained in the accident, is attached to this news release.
The male victim, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Insitute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Engelhardt and Officer B. Mark reported:
Prado was driving a green Ford Explorer westbound on the South Main service road and entering the mainlanes of Highway 90 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Explorer then struck the right rear side of a white Toyota 4 Runner traveling in the center lane of Highway 90. Both vehicles lost control and rolled several times. The passenger in the Explorer was killed. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were both transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Prado was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then taken into custody.
