Investigation Into Man Found Deceased at 1600 Elysian

February 14, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man at 1600 Elysian about 9:55 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 13).

The identity of the male victim, 51, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Garcia and Officer L. Wright reported:

Officers responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian accident at the above location and, upon arrival, discovered the victim had been struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and had immediately called for police. Further investigation revealed the victim may have been assaulted and was lying in the street prior to being struck by the car. Witnesses stated a possible suspect walked away from the scene with a baseball bat in his hands.

An autopsy will determine whether the victim was deceased prior to being struck by the car.
