February 11, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 4775 Beechhaven about 3:40 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 10).

The victim, Daniel Rivera, Jr., 25, of the above address, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Biggs and Senior Police Officer R. Bolton reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 4775 Beechhaven Drive. When officers arrived, witnesses who lived there told them someone had broken into their home and shot Mr. Rivera while he was in his bed. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Rivera to the hospital where he died. Witnesses also told investigators they heard gunshots and when they came out of their bedroom, they were confronted by a Hispanic male suspect with a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at the female witness and then fled the scene.
