September 24, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in a fatal traffic accident at 6300 West 43rd Street about 2:55 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 23).
The suspect, Miguel Antonio Padilla (H/m, DOB: 4-8-88) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 337th State District Court. A photo of Padilla is attached to this news release.
The victim, Melissa Arias, 20, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer J. Morales reported:
Padilla was driving a blue BMW 328i westbound on West 43rd Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to maintain a single lane, jumped a curb, and then struck a concrete pillar under U.S. Highway 290. The rear seat passenger, Ms. Arias, died at the scene.
