October 29, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3929 Almeda Genoa about 9:40 a.m. today.

The male victim, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Shaw and Senior Police Officer R. Tallent reported:
The victim was driving a 1997 black Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed eastbound on Almeda Genoa when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered to the left and left the roadway. The Explorer then struck a concrete driveway culvert of a private residence at the above address, went airborne over an 8 foot chain link fence and struck a tree in the front yard of the residence.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
