July 17, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 400 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 10:50 p.m. on Monday (July 16).

The victim, Cleveland Miles, Jr., 69, of Humble, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Senior Police Officer S. Martinez reported:

Mr. Miles was attempting to run across the Eastex Freeway when he was struck by a green Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck traveling northbound on the freeway.  The driver of the Chevrolet  remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.

The investigation is continuing.
