January 30, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6800 Dixie about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 29).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer T. Tran reported:

The victim was driving a green Dodge Neoneastbound on Dixie Road when he entered the opposing lanes of traffic and struck a blue Dodge pickup truck traveling westbound.  The driver of the Neon died at the scene.  The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. 

The investigation is continuing.
