February 17, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10500 Freehill about 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 15).

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  However, based upon evidence at the scene, she is believed to be an elderly woman (Lillian High, 82) reported missing in October.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Senior Police Officer A. Taylor reported:

Members of the HPD Dive Team were training in a retention pond at the above address when they discovered a submerged vehicle.  When the black Dodge Avenger was removed from the water, the victim was found inside.  The driver appears to have failed to maintain a single lane and drove off the road into the pond.
