December 31, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6302 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 30).

The victim, Johnny Terrell Armstead, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers C. Hufstedler and D. Arnold reported:

Mr. Armstead and a witness were inside the witness's gray Nissan Rogue sport utility vehicle near the Valero gas station at the above address. An unknown male suspect then exited a white Grand Prix, parked at a nearby gas pump at that same location, and approached the Nissan. The suspect then fired at least twice into the vehicle, striking Armstead in the shoulder. Armstead ran a short distance, then collapsed and died. The suspect returned to his vehicle and fled north on MLK. The witness was not injured.

The suspect is described only as a black male, 28 to 32 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a light tan, long sleeve button-down shirt , light-colored slacks and had a short fade hair style.
