Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 4323 Gregory
December 20, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man found at 4323 Gregory about 6:55 a.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 18).
Brandon DeJuan Gladney (b/m, DOB: 7-14-92) is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court. A photo of Gladney is attached to this news release.
The victim, Jimmy Wesley Petties, 57, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined he had died from blunt force trauma to the head.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers T. Miller and M. Miller reported:
Mr. Petties allowed a female friend to stay at his home temporarily, due to problems she was having with a male friend who had assaulted her. When Petties was found deceased on the driveway of his residence, neither the female nor the male were at the residence.
Further investigation identified Gladney as the male friend involved in this incident. He subsequently told police he and the female friend had been staying temporarily at Petties' home and began arguing with Petties after the pair was asked to leave. The argument became violent, resulting in Petties' death. On Wednesday (Dec. 19), Gladney was arrested without incident and confessed to his role in Petties' death.
