Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 3019 Wentworth
December 20, 2012 - The fatal shooting of a man at 3019 Wentworth about 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 19) is being referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male suspect, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The male shooter, 24, was not injured.
HPD Homicide Division Officers C. Hassig and L. Carballo reported:
A male tenant was inside his apartment at the above location with his girlfriend and two-year-old daughter when the family heard a knock at the back door. Upon opening the door, the suspect pointed a handgun at the tenant and demanded he get down on the ground. Instead, the tenant ran into a bedroom and retrieved his own gun as the suspect chased after him. The tenant shot at the suspect, striking him multiple times. Paramedics pronounced the suspect dead at the scene. The tenant was questioned and released pending further investigation.
