August 22, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 5500 block of Gessner about 12:20 a.m. today.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Officer A. Hart reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was driving a white Honda Accord southbound on Gessner at a high rate of speed. He then lost control of the vehicle, drove onto a center grassy median and then struck a tree. The Honda was then catapulted into the air and flipped. The victim died at the scene.
