April 11, 2012 - A man critically injured in a traffic accident in the 6900 block of Wheatley about 4:50 a.m. on March 24 has died from his injuries.

The victim, 47, suffered a broken leg and other internal injuries. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital and later transferred to East Houston Regional Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on Saturday (April 7). His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Senior Police Officer J. Gaona reported:

The victim was driving a tan Mercury Grand Marquis northbound in the 6900 block of Wheatley when he drove through the intersection and struck a tree in the 1200 block of West Little York. The victim was then transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in this accident.
