Investigation into Male's Stabbing at 6403 West Airport Boulevard

September 19, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the stabbing of a man at 6403 West Airport Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. last Friday (Sept. 16).

The victim, Steven Christopher Willis, 23, suffered a stab wound to the upper chest and was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers T. Andrade and B. Evans reported:

Mr. Willis was contacted by his girlfriend after her vehicle broke down and his help was requested in a parking lot at the above location.  Willis arrived and discovered his girlfriend attempting to use a paring knife to manipulate the hood release of her vehicle.  Willis approached his girlfriend to assist her in her attempts to open the vehicle's hood, which had been damaged from a previous motor vehicle accident and was difficult to open.  While assisting his girlfriend in her attempts to gain access to the vehicle's hood, Willis sustained a single puncture wound to the upper chest.  His girlfriend transported Willis to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to repair a punctured aortic ventricle.

It is still unclear how Willis sustained the stab wound.  Willis' girlfriend was transported to the Homicide Division for questioning.  There are no charges in this incident at this time. This case will be referred to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for any possible charges.
