October 25, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 900 Eldridge about 10:15 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 24).

The female victim, 88, was transported to Methodist West Houston Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Senior Police Officer L. Cooper reported:

The victim was a passenger in a silver Mercury Cougar that was travelling northbound on Eldridge when the driver ran a red light at the intersection of the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road. The Mercury then struck a black Acura MDX SUV.

The driver of the Mercury was cited for running a red light and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

The investigation is continuing.
