June 16, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 900 block of Marjorie about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday (June 15).

The identity of the male victim, 35, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer A. Hart reported: 

According to witnesses, the victim was driving a green Chevrolet Suburban at a high rate of speed, eastbound in the 900 block of Marjorie, when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Knox and almost struck another vehicle.  The Suburban failed to stay in a single lane, went off the road and struck a ditch.  The Suburban then went airborne and struck a light pole.  The victim was ejected and died at the scene.
