July 27, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident in the 8000 block of Homestead Road about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday (July 27).

The female victim, 32, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Shaw and Officer M. Hardt reported:

The victim was walking across Homestead Road when, according to witnesses, she was struck by a blue Dodge Magnum with large chrome wheels.  Witnesses stated that the driver of the Dodge attempted to stop prior to hitting the female but after impact fled the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
