19 Years to the Day, Suspect Tracked Down in Woman's 1992 Death
August 19, 2011 - A suspect charged in 2008 and wanted for the murder of an elderly woman found at 13233 Vicksburg on August 18, 1992, is now in custody.
Bobby Miller (w/m, DOB: 9-27-76) was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday (Aug. 18). He is awaiting extradition back to Houston. A charge of capital murder was filed on Miller by Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities in 2008 because he was 16 at the time of the killing. Miller fled Houston prior to being apprehended. A 2008 photo of Miller is attached to this news release.
Miller is charged in the killing of Loubenia Wilson, 86, of the above address. Ms. Wilson was robbed and beaten.
HPD Homicide Division Cold Case Unit Sergeant M. Peters reported:
Ms. Wilson was inside her home when she was the victim of a home invasion robbery by two young, unknown males. She was tied up and physically abused in an effort to get her to reveal where her money was hidden. The suspects left her tied up on the floor as they fled the residence. Three days later, neighbors became concerned and went to check on Wilson. They discovered her still tied up and on the floor. Paramedics transported Wilson to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead on September 1, 1992.
In 2008, fingerprint evidence was developed that identified Miller as a suspect in this case. A directive to apprehend him was issued by the 315th Juvenile District Court, but Miller had already fled the Houston area.
This week, information was developed that Miller was using a different name and living in Las Vegas. That information was relayed to the U.S. Marshals office in Las Vegas and officers there located and arrested Miller without incident.
