August 18, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man at 9406 Redford #19 about 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 17).

The victim, Michael Cortez, 22, suffered a stab wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Deese and Officer B. Oxspring reported:

Patrol offciers responded to a suicide-in-progress call at the above location.  Officers arrived and found Mr. Cortez unresponsive on the landing outside his second-floor apartment.  Responding HFD emergency personnel then pronounced Cortez dead.

A female person of interest who lived with Cortez was detained for questioning, but has not been charged in this incident.
