Fatal Traffic Accident at 1800 West Loop South

April 18, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 1800 West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610) about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday (April 16).

The identity of the male victim, 21, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer D. Ashford reported:

Witnesses stated the victim was operating a black Harley Davidson motorcycle at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic on the southbound lanes of the West Loop. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, struck traffic barrels on the Westheimer exit ramp, causing the bike to skid on its side across the mainlanes of the Loop. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
