Fatal Traffic Accident at 8800 North Loop East

April 15, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8800 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) service road about 8:50 a.m. on Thursday (April 14).

The male victim, Shab Farkish, 21, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Officer M. Hardt reported:

Mr. Farkish was driving a maroon Hyundai Elantra northbound in the 3600 block of North McCarty at a high rate of speed and approaching the intersection of the North Loop East. The driver of a tractor-trailer truck was turning left from the southbound lanes of North McCarty onto the service road of the North Loop East. The tractor-trailer was halfway onto the service road when the Elantra failed to stop in time and struck the tractor-trailer. Farkish died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
