Fatal Traffic Accident at 4600 Pinemont

April 15, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 4600 block of Pinemont about 1 a.m. today (April 15).

The male victim, age unknown, died at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institiute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer R. Klementich reported:

The victim was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound in the 4600 block of Pinemont when, for unknown reasons, the Jeep went off the roadway and onto a road under construction. The Jeep then struck an area with no concrete and under repair, and went airborne. The impact caused the Jeep to catch fire. The victim was unable to get out of the vehicle and died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
