Fatal Traffic Accident at 22700 Eastex Freeway
September 13, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 22700 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 1:55 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 12).
The male victim, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Couch and Officer M. Rios reported:
The victim was driving a gold Toyota Tundra northbound on the Eastex Freeway when he collided with a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, also traveling northbound on the freeway. The front passenger side of the Toyota struck the Dodge on the rear driver's side door and caused the Toyota to flip on its driver's side and slide northbound on the freeway. The victim was extricated from the Toyota by Houston Fire Department personnel but was pronounced dead a short time later. The female driver of the Dodge and a child passenger were transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The male passenger of the Dodge was not injured and remained at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
