Suspect Arrested, Charged in Kidnapping of Infant at 12707 Bellaire
September 7, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the kidnapping of an infant at 12707 Bellaire Boulevard about 1:50 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 3).
The suspect, Quoc Duy Vuong (A/m, DOB: 10-12-73), is charged with aggravated kidnapping in the 180th State District Court. A photo of Vuong is attached to this news release.
The nine-month-old baby girl was returned to her mother unharmed.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R.A. Odom and Senior Police Officer L.K. Lovelace reported:
Vuong and the baby's mother began arguing Friday morning. During the argument, the mother asked a friend to come get her child, while she continued packing her belongs to leave Vuong, who was not the baby's father. After the baby left with the friend, the couple continued arguing. During the argument, Vuong produced a semi-automatic pistol and threatened to kill himself. He then left the apartment.
Later Friday afternoon, Vuong went to the apartment where the baby was staying and took the little girl. He then called the child's mother and threatened to kill the baby and himself unless she agreed to reconcile.
After several hours, Vuong surrendered to officers at the HPD Ranchester Storefront at 9146 Bellaire Boulevard.
