Fatal Traffic Accident at Beechnut and South Dairy Ashford

November 10, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Beechnut near South Dairy Ashford about 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 9).

The male victim, 46, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Perry and Officer C. Sartor reported: 

The driver of a white Jeep Liberty was traveling eastbound on Beechnut and stopped at a red light at the intersection of South Dairy Ashford.  As the light turned green and the Jeep proceeded through the intersection, the victim ran southbound on South Dairy Ashford against the traffic signal and was struck by the Jeep. 

The driver showed no sign of intoxication.  The investigation is continuing.
