Fatal Traffic Accident at 9700 Westheimer Road May 20, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 9700 block of Westheimer Road about 9 p.m. on Wednesday (May 19). The male victim, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. K. Richard and Officer C. Long reported: The victim and his friend got off a Metro bus in the 9700 block of Westheimer and attempted to cross the street. The victim was then struck by a tan Mitsubishi Galant and died at the scene. His friend was not injured. The female driver of the Galant was questioned and released at the scene. Further investigation determined the victim was not crossing Westheimer at a crosswalk.
