Suspect Arrested in Fatal Traffic Accident at 800 Almeda Genoa
July 6, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 800 block of Almeda Genoa about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday (July 3).
The suspect, Edwanda Johnwell Cesar (b/f, DOB: 4-12-63), is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 179th State District Court.
The identities of both victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Couch and Officer T. Carter reported:
Cesar was driving a gray Dodge pickup truck southbound on Regal Oaks Bend and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Almeda Genoa. As the Dodge entered the intersection, it struck a green Pontiac Sunfire, traveling westbound on Almeda Genoa. The Pontiac was knocked through a median and onto the grassy shoulder of the eastbound lanes of Almeda Genoa. Both individuals in the Pontiac were killed. A passenger in the Dodge was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries.
Cesar was taken into custody at the scene and found to be intoxicated.
