Fatal Traffic Accident at 12900 East Freeway January 04, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a driver arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 12900 East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East) about 5:25 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 1). The suspect, Michael Joseph Dove (b/m, DOB: 6-10-87), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 176th State District Court. The female victim, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer D. Schlichter reported: A black Chevrolet Impala was traveling eastbound on the East Freeway at a high rate of speed when it struck the back of a Dodge truck that had seven passengers. Both vehicles lost control and stopped on the freeway. A female passenger got out of the truck and crossed the freeway to check on the driver of the Impala, which had come to a rest facing north on the freeway entrance ramp. A black Dodge Charger, driven by Dove, entered the freeway and struck the Impala, ejecting the driver of the Impala. The Charger then struck the female standing next to the Impala. The female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Impala was transported to LBJ Hospital with minor injuries. JKS/JFC 1-4-10
