Fatal Shooting at 5300 Coke #187 February 5, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man and wounding of a woman at 5300 Coke #187 about 1:15 a.m. today. The victim, Kevin Ford, 40, of the above address, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The female, Ford’s mother, suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and was also transported to Ben Taub where she is recovering from her injuries. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Biggs and Officer M. Stahlin reported: Mr. Ford’s mother heard noises and picked up a pistol to protect herself. Ford and his mother then got into a struggle over the pistol and, at some point, the gun discharged. The round struck Ford in the abdomen, exited, and then struck Ford’s mother in the hip. This case will be reviewed by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
