Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 7700 Corporate October 26, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of his son at 7700 Corporate #1501 about 4:20 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 25). The suspect, Ofelio Antonio Otero (H/m, DOB: 4-3-69), is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court. The victim, Ignacio A. Otero, 17, of the above address, suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. E. Roberts and Senior Police Officer R. A. Moreno reported: Investigators responded to a shooting call at 7700 Corporate and learned Ofelio Otero had been drinking heavily and argued with his wife about a missing video game. He then argued with his son, Ignacio Otero, about the same missing game. As he argued with his son, Ofelio Otero retrieved a gun and loaded it. Ignacio Otero swung at Ofelio Otero and then attempted to run away. Ofelio Otero then shot his son and fled on foot. Ofelio Otero was later located at an apartment in the 9000 block of Town Park. After a stand off with the HPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, the suspect surrendered and was taken into police custody.
