Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2004 Fatal Shooting October 7 , 2009 - Houston police have arrested a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 2215 Hollister on May 14, 2004. The suspect, Oscar David Zamarripa (H/m, DOB: 2-28-85), was arrested on Tuesday (Oct. 6) without incident. He was charged with murder in the 228th State District Court the day after the killing of Alberto Rivera, 22, of Houston, and has been sought ever since. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris reported: Investigators on the 2004 shooting scene at 2215 Hollister immediately identified Zamarripa as a suspect who shot and killed Mr. Rivera about 3:15 that morning. Charges were filed and a warrant was issued for Zamarripa’s arrest. During the past five years, investigators have tracked Zamarripa to South Texas, Mexico, California, Utah and then back to Houston as he used several names during that time. Due to diligent work of officers from the HPD Homicide, Criminal Intelligence Division and the Gang Division, Zamarripa was tracked down and arrested in the 12000 block of FM 529 in northwest Harris County on Tuesday (Oct. 6).
