Investigation into Child's Death at 7927 Cook Road November 30, 2009 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a toddler found unresponsive at 7927 Cook Road about 1 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 29). The baby, Joseph Enriquez, 2, of Stafford, showed no signs of visible trauma. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Senior Police Officer M. Waters reported: The mother and father of baby Joseph were at a family-owned truck repair shop along with other friends and family members. As the father and other males were working on trucks while others gathered for a barbecue, baby Joseph wandered off. Family and friends then searched the trucking yard and found the boy face down in a large standing pool of water about five and one half inches deep. The ground was gravel with a sloped embankment and the child apparently lost his footing. Baby Joseph was then taken by private vehicle to Houston Fire Department Station #76, where HFD paramedics gave the boy first aid and then took him to the hospital. No evidence of foul play was found at the scene and Baby Joseph’s cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. VHS/JFC 11-30-09
