Robbery Suspects Sought in Incident at 7400 West Tidwell

November 24, 2009 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which a Metropolitan Transit Authority police officer discharged his duty weapon at several robbery suspects at 7400 West Tidwell Road about 12:45 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 23).

The suspects are described only as four Hispanic or white males.

The Metro police officer, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. E. Roberts, Senior Police Officer M. F. Waters and HPD Robbery Division Officer D. Beasley reported:

The Metro police officer was at the Pho Saigon restaurant in the 7400 block of West Tidwell having lunch when several unknown suspects attempted to rob the location. Believing his safety and the safety of others in the restaurant was in danger, the Metro officer discharged his duty weapon at one of the suspects and possibly struck him. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction and remain at large. None of the restaurant employees or witnesses was injured.

As is customary in officer-involved shootings in the city limits, this case will be investigated by the HPD Homicide Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
